Q?
How can I avoid extra charges for ARTWORK?
-
A.
Vector graphics are required for many of our processes and preferred for others. These include PDF, AI, EPS, SVG, and CDR files. If your artwork includes fonts, the fonts should be embedded so that we can adequately reproduce them. (If you’re unsure what that means, please contact us). Ideally, your artwork should be ready to print.
Depending on what you need to be printed, we may be able to work with other non-vector file types, such as PSD, JPG, PNG, etc., if they have been properly created. Our Image Experts will assist you with what’s needed to provide you with the best quality print.
If we need to alter the files to make them printable or redraw them, there will be an additional charge.

Q?
I want to browse your products online. Why is it not on your website?
-
A.
You can view many of our products by finding a center near you and then looking at their catalogs. We are e-commerce enabled, but they are primarily used to build custom web stores for our clients. Given the breadth of products we offer, they don’t all play well together in a webstore format. Apparel works well; Promo products work well; custom signage not very well; and tradeshow displays and exhibits, not so much. They can work well individually but not well together. Trying to put over 1,000,000 customizable products all together results in brain damage for you and for us.
We feel everyone is best served with their own custom webstore that can be managed well once we have your brand’s assortment figured out, then we can build a custom store to make it easy for fulfillment and ordering.
-
Q?
I need a sign for my business. Do you do that?
-
A.
Sure do! Come into one of our centers and speak with an image expert, as that is often a bit more complicated a project than we can handle in an FAQ. Connect with a center here.

Q?
I ordered a large wall graphic, and when I put it up on the wall, it fell to the floor overnight and would not stick. Are you guys making junk over there?
-
A.
Ha! That’s a funny one. The reason it did not stick properly is that your wall is likely painted with what is called a LOW VOC (volatile organic compound) paint. These snappy new paint finishes are all the rage and look great. A big selling feature in the store is that if the wall gets scuffed or marked up, you can easily wash it off! Low VOC paint is designed so that stuff doesn’t stick to it, including stickers! But that is easily curable.
Usually, the area where the graphic is to be installed needs light sanding, and it needs to be washed with heavy TSP/degreaser before being allowed to dry. Then your graphics should be able to be installed easy as pie!
-
Q?
Why can’t you print the artwork I created online?
-
A.
While some tools are convenient for designing online, they don’t always produce files with the resolution needed for high-quality printing. These files are often low-resolution and may contain visual artifacts that aren’t noticeable on social media or in small digital formats. However, when scaled up for items like T-shirts, banners, or signage, these imperfections become highly visible.
To achieve the best results, we recommend having your design recreated in a high-resolution format suitable for printing. This ensures your final product looks professional and crisp, even at larger sizes. If you are unsure if your file will work or not, please speak with one of our Image Experts.

Q?
My football/hockey/baseball/pickleball/swim/pick a sports team wants to get their names and numbers on their jerseys. Can you do that?
-
A.
Sure can. Best to bring them all in at once, though, so we can best serve you.
-
Q?
I have a logo from
. Can you make me a shirt? -
A.
Afraid not. To properly make you a shirt or any kind of item, you need to have a license to be able to reproduce the item or to put that organization’s logo onto something. Without the end user having a license or a letter from the company, we are not allowed to simply create an item and sell it to you. That is considered copyright infringement and can result in a lawsuit.
-
Q?
I have artwork/lyrics/photos of my favorite band. Can you print this?
-
A.
Printing artwork, lyrics, or photos of a band (or anything else not in the public domain) can potentially violate copyright laws, depending on how you use them. The safe answer is that we can’t print anything that is not owned by you, under the public domain, or that you don’t have permission to reproduce. You can’t legally use someone else’s intellectual property without getting permission. Any reproduction of copyrighted material is considered a violation.

Q?
How much is it for a T-shirt?
-
A.
That depends. We have a ridiculous number of T-shirts to pick from. There is basic combed cotton, 50/50 blends, tri-blends, moisture wicking, raglans, racerbacks, tanks, long or short sleeve, made in USA, CANADA, MEXICO or elsewhere. The quantity, decoration method, number of locations, colors, and date needed, can all affect the price. You can request a quote from our centers to get your customized price.
-
Q?
How long will my order take?
-
A.
The timeline for your order varies depending on its specifics and type. Each order is custom-made, so several factors can influence timing. Our typical turnaround time is 5 to 10 business days from final artwork approval and payment. Some items have longer transit times to get to our centers that will add to the overall production time.
To get a precise estimate, please contact the center handling your order so we can discuss the details. We recommend allowing extra time to ensure the best possible service!

Q?
We are a school and managing spirit is challenging. Can you help?
-
A.
What is that sound? It sounds like angels singing. Education is our #1 market. So, speak with an Image Expert at one of our centers. We understand what you are going through there, and we can help you with a custom-branded online store. An online store removes the need for the school or teacher to handle money and risk losing things. We can help make it easier for the school to buy or raise money, and it is easy for the parents/kids to simply go to the store, order, and have everything tracked so nothing is lost, and the teachers and school do not have to handle all the cash. We can make that process and branding easier for everyone!

Q?
I need a sign for my lobby in my office with backlights and custom letters that stand off from the wall; that stuff looks cool.
-
A.
That’s because it is cool, and it looks magnificent. Those are fun projects but have lots of details to them. Speak with an Image Expert at our centers, who can help you with everything. Rest assured; we can make your branding easier.
-
Q?
We are participating in a tradeshow/conference/outdoor event. Can you help me?
-
A.
This is right in our wheelhouse. We are good at this stuff. We can outfit your team with everything you need. Display systems and tradeshow booths, yes. Flags, banners, and tents, yes. Branded apparel and T-shirts, yes. Sales collateral & promotional items, yes; custom flooring and tablecloths, yes!
-
Q?
Can you make graphics for my store or office windows?
-
A.
This is a big favorite of ours, but not enough businesses utilize it. On average, people make a decision about coming into your business in under 5 seconds. The better your windows communicate your value to the market, the more effective they will be. When done well, window graphics are super impactful and effective.
-
Q?
I need graphics on my work vehicle or trailer. Do you do that?
-
A.
We love that stuff. We can do everything from simple removable magnets to basic letters and graphics to full and partial wraps. Come on in and speak with an image expert because there are lots of options to discuss there to do it right.
We would recommend that EVERY company have graphics on their vehicles. They are simply the most efficient marketing dollars you can spend. You get the most impressions, brand awareness, and lead generation from vehicle graphics, hands down.

Q?
How much is it for 8 polos?
-
A.
That depends. We have about 300 different polos to pick from. Then it depends on how it is to be decorated, how many locations, and when you need it. It also depends on how complex the artwork is. So, while it may seem simple, there are plenty of technical factors that go into the pricing, and because each order is unique and bespoke, everything is always a bit different.

Q?
What is a vector file vs a raster file?
-
A.
A vector file is a type of digital image that uses mathematical formulas to create shapes, lines, and colors. Unlike raster images, which are made up of pixels, vector images are composed of paths defined by points, lines, and curves. Because these paths are based on mathematical equations, vector images can be scaled to any size without losing quality or becoming pixelated. The most common vector file formats are .AI, .EPS, .SVG., and PDF.
Vector files are ideal for logos, illustrations, and designs that need to be resized frequently or used in various formats, and is our preference for signage, embroidery, engraving and product artwork.
Raster images, also known as bitmap images, are digital images created from a grid of tiny pixels. Each pixel contains color information, and together, these pixels form the complete image. Raster images are best suited for photographs and complex color details, as they can capture subtle gradients and intricate details.
Common raster image formats include JPEG (.JPG), PNG, BMP, GIF, and TIFF (.TIF). These formats vary in their compression methods and quality, making them suitable for different uses. For example, JPEG is often used for web photos due to its balance between quality and file size, while PNG is favored for images requiring transparency.
For our applications and production, vector graphics are the best file format to ensure the best outcome for the client.

Q?
Can I bring in my own garments to be decorated/printed?
-
A.
You may, but understand you are doing so at your own risk. There are machines at work, and sometimes mistakes can happen, or equipment can ruin garments. Our stores are not responsible for customer-supplied garments. It is also highly advised to allow for a 3-5% spoilage allowance so that if something does happen, you are reasonably covered. Our centers sell garments, and when you purchase your apparel from us, if our machines wreck something or we make a mistake, we simply replace it, and you don’t see the difference. Often, it’s not any more expensive buying them directly from us, and it is certainly less headache for you.
Bringing in your own garments can also involve an additional charge.

Q?
What is the difference between Screen Print, Direct to Garment (DTG), and Direct to Film (DTF)?
-
A.
Screen Print has existed for centuries, but the process is fundamentally the same. Ink is pressed through a mesh screen onto a shirt. The way it is done is that each color needs to be printed individually on the product. Then it is cured in a dryer, and you have a ready to go garment. Screen printing is the most cost-effective method for larger production jobs.
Direct to Garment (DTG) is a newer digital technology. A water-based ink is printed directly on the garment. Think of it as an inkjet printer that prints t-shirts. Instead of paper, shirts are fed into a digital printer, which prints a full-color, high-resolution print with tremendous detail in a few minutes. This is a digital technology that works best on 100% cotton and up to 50/50 cotton/poly blend. DTG uses 85% less water and energy to print and is ideally suited for complex full-color art and smaller quantity production.
Direct to Film (DTF) is the newest digital heat transfer technology. It is a bit of a hybrid from DTG, and Screen Print, and uses inkjet technology. It is printed on a clear film. It can print full-color high-resolution art like DTG, but there is no special pre-treatment needed for the garment, and there is no weeding of the material needed, making it infinitely simpler and more efficient to use. DTF transfers are extremely versatile. They can be applied to all types of garments, including polyesters, non-woven recyclable products, and at low temperatures. DTF is growing rapidly; it holds up well in the laundry, it’s comfortable, it’s a very high-quality imprint, and it is cost-efficient in small and medium-run production.

Q?
Your name says INSTANT IMPRINTS, why can’t I walk in and get something made right away?
-
A.
There are certainly some things we can do pretty darn fast, like mugs, banners, and some types of t-shirt decoration. Most items require artwork or inventory to be brought in. Since our centers actually make stuff, we keep a production schedule to maintain our sanity and make sure we get our client's work done right and on time. Here at Instant Imprints, we offer the fastest total turnaround in the industry and by a good margin over our competitors. Plus, a name like REALLY REALLY FAST IMPRINTS doesn’t roll off the tongue very well.
-
Q?
What is digitizing, and why do I need it?
-
A.
Digitizing for embroidery is the process of creating a digital file that guides an embroidery machine to stitch out a specific design. This process involves converting artwork or a design into a format that the embroidery machine can read and follow. This allows for your design to be embroidered as it was intended to look.
-

I need a sign for my business, but I’m not sure what type would be best. Can you help?
-
A.
Of course! Visit one of our local showrooms, where you'll find someone happy to go over some recommendation with you, and you'll find a variety of different types of signs on display that you can 'touch and feel.' You can also find some sign examples here.
-
Q?
I don’t have my logo in an embroidery format. Can you help with that?
-
A.
Sure. Call or drop by one of our centers, and they can explain the options for converting your artwork into a format that can be embroidered.
